See through my eyes, get into my head, join me on my journey…
There are many things we have learned about life, the economy, viruses, leaders, family, friends and ourselves over the past 6 weeks. This is not another motivational letter about the state of affairs and how to stay positive – I am sure you have read them all.
Instead I want to pay homage to the four walls which we call HOME.
The immovable safe haven, no matter the size, shape or form, which has kept us both sane and at times driven us crazy.
OUR HOMES ARE IMPORTANT and deserve attention of some sort, be it a lick of paint, a spring clean or a few scented candles.
When the world around us falls apart we have to be able to close the doors and retreat to a place that offers us calm, comfort & safety.
By now you have probably sat in every chair and each corner of your home, you have probably noticed the dust in unlikely places, the useless items in the kitchen drawers, the clothes you have not worn for years, the dated magazines and unorganized linen cupboard.
By now you have probably also noticed the 24 hour rhythm of your home….how the light changes throughout the day, the different sounds (be it birds, bins, or barking), the changing smells from the kitchen but most importantly how at the end of the day a silent calmness hangs in the air just before the sun sets and you get ready for the “evening-stretch” before you finally retreat to your bed.
Which brings me to OUR BEDS.
We spend a third of our lives in our beds (maybe more if you’re a napper or a bed-Netflixer) so our beds should be the coziest nests they can be. This is the place where you restore, repair, think, dream and wake up with hope for the new day.
I have often written about the benefits of 100% linen above any other fabric and I still maintain there is NO better option to achieve the best sleep than stonewashed linen!
Just before lockdown we received a new shipment of duvets covers, sheets, quilts and pillowcases and now that you have the time, take a look, browse, make a wishlist and if it pleases you, invest in the sacred place called MY BED.
I’ve had numerous customers who recently confided in me about their surprise discovery of the sad state of their bed linen and linen cupboards.
This is obviously a result of many of us who are at the moment doing our own housekeeping and are struggling to find the right items for a change of bed linen.
The struggle is real and you are not alone.
No better time than now to take control and sort out the linen cupboard!

STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE.
