See through my eyes, get into my head, join me on my journey…
Those who know me will understand that I am not a person for colour, maybe because I have a mop of red hair … maybe not.
I am completely intrigued with black and white – how well these two extreme opposites can sit so comfortably together, never competing and never ever dating. The pureness of white and the strength of black form the ultimate balance in life.
I visualise pearls and onyx, polar bears and panthers, ebony and ivory, cream and squid ink, a pitch black raven on a white-washed wall, white ducks on a pile of black coal, and my toes curl with pleasure as I enjoy the striking, yet calm look.
For many reasons, Coco Chanel remains my all-time favourite fashion designer, and what always strikes me most, is her classic execution of black and white.
I have recently chosen two fragrances for Masquerade’s new candle range – Noir and Blanc, encapsulating what I think white and black should smell like. That got me rolling on black and white again … a timeless combination with endless possibilities.
PS: I recently painted my house black, with white trim … it looks good, I think.
